Position Summary:
The Manager, Reservoir and Caverns will be accountable for all facets of waste water disposal, cavern storage and cavern disposal as it applies to the wellbore, the cavern and the reservoir. This includes responsibility for working closely with operations teams to maintain and expand water disposal capabilities and cavern capacities at existing facilities and working closely with business development teams to develop new water disposal opportunities and cavern business opportunities in western Canada. It also includes accountability for developing disposal strategies and operating guidelines and standards. Managing Surface and Mineral Land resources, and providing direction to Land staff is in scope. A key element of this role is establishing and maintaining technical expertise in the areas of cavern construction, cavern evaluations, disposal formation geology, well evaluations, formation evaluations and disposal well drilling, completions, workovers, and stimulations.

Key Responsibilities:
People Leadership

Lead and develop a multi-discipline team of Geology, Engineering and Surface Land professionals ensuring effective performance management and succession planning.

Operations Support

Ensure disposal wells and caverns optimally meet the demands of the facilities and customers.

Support maintenance programs pertaining to damaging agents/processes.

Well workover and stimulation programming, cost estimating and execution for existing wells.

Oversee drilling and completion programming, cost estimating and execution for new disposal wells.

Client Relationships

Provide Operations with analysis and technical advice to optimize existing reservoirs utilized by Tervita’s water disposal wells and caverns by continually analyzing and reviewing the reservoir performance.

Liaise with the Business Development and Operations in evaluating new and existing market potential while providing technical and strategic advice for new waste disposal opportunities.

Liaise with the Environmental and Regulatory group to ensure that all government/legislative requirements are met and that Tervita works to maintain full compliance.

Continually review and assess the Health and Safety performance on all projects to ensure that corporate and industry compliance is met, or exceeded.

Reservoir Evaluation

Conduct fit-for-purpose integrated reservoir studies utilizing various reservoir engineering tools and new technologies to maximize the economic injectivity of well assets.

Work closely with reservoir geologists to ensure that geological interpretation and production performance are consistent;

Work with reservoir modeler in the design of simulation models to history match and forecast production performance and perform reservoir characterization studies. Experience in the use of Petrel and Well Test models would be an asset;

Recommend infill drill and conversion candidates.

Surface Land

Ensure a high-functioning Surface Land team continues to support day to day Operations land requirements including annual lease rentals, 3rd party agreements and road use.

Overseeing the development of new surface acquisition for new well, pipeline and facilities capital projects.

Project Management

Develop annual capital and expense budgets for reservoir evaluation and monitoring;

Manage and work with third party consultants/contractors;

Liaise with the Environmental and Regulatory group to ensure that all government/legislative requirements are met and that Tervita is in full compliance.

Minimal travel is required.

Technical Requirements:
Professional Engineer or P.Tech, registered with APEGA.

Minimum 15 years of experience and technical knowledge in reservoir engineering or petroleum engineering including exploration and completions.

Demonstrated leadership skills and experience with a minimum 8 years in a supervisory/ management role.

Industry experience directly involved with reservoir engineering, reservoir characterization and evaluation, drilling and production engineering.,

Demonstrated success in practical reservoir management and asset optimization,

Strong knowledge of surface and mineral land maintenance and acquisition.

Experience with advanced Reservoir Simulation software.

Knowledge and experience in reservoir stimulations including fracturing techniques, acidizing and multi-frac techniques.;

Expert knowledge level and full competency with respect to controlling costs and meeting budget projections.;

Expert skill level with respect to promoting innovation.

Effective problem solver with the ability to implement improvements.

Advanced computer skills – Excel, Word, PowerPoint and GeoScout;

Interpersonal Requirement:
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to develop and mentor employees with respect to personal and career goals and provide opportunities for growth.

Results oriented, decisive and self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.

Ability to travel to field locations.
