Development and Production USA (DPUSA) is responsible for Statoil’s portfolio of producing assets and planned field developments across the US. Technological innovation, rigorous safety standards, and environmental awareness drive our operations in the US and have helped Statoil to build a  portfolio of onshore, offshore and exploration assets in some of the industry’s most exciting energy resource areas. Statoil’s US headquarters are located in Houston, TX.  We also have offices in Austin, TX, Stamford, CT and Washington D.C, as well as in Mexico City. Must have a good background in US onshore unconventional well performance evaluation, completion optimizations and have experience in unconventional economics.  Experience in Bakken, Eagleford and/or Marcellus is preferred.  Experience with drilling, completion or production operations is a plus, as is experience using ARIES.  Supervisory experience is preferred, as this position will have direct reports.

Provide technical expertise and leadership towards analyzing existing well performance, and make recommendations for upcoming completions

Provide monthly production forecasts and EUR’s on existing wells

Establish efficient well spacing and development patterns

Leverage performance data and future development to make recommendations for downstream infrastructure and facilities

Support recommendations and projects with economic analysis

Work with Research and Technology group and other functions to develop future technologies to increase reservoir recoveries

Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports

Technical Skills:

Engineering skills from simple production decline and analytical analysis to complete economic analysis

Knowledgeable in drilling, completion and production operations

Able to effectively evaluate production and pressure data of existing wells with emphasis on deliverability prediction for economics modeling

knowledge of fracture analysis and fracture stimulation modeling, with ability to work closely with completions engineers

Capable to work with a large amount of data, and present and work with stakeholders, both internal and external

Excellent software skills

The chosen candidate will also build competence and networking with other disciplines in the team as well as with the relevant networks and advisors

Some supervision of both internal and external studies may be required

This position requires excellent communication skills. This includes internal with management and technical positions in the office as well as with our operating partners

Office based, though some field visits may be required


Bachelor's in an Engineering discipline

10-20 years industry experience

Knowledge and Ability to work with Aries is a plus

Position requires strong technical skills, ability to work well with others and a desire to make a difference on potentially large impact opportunities

Independent, self-motivated, creative, results oriented, can work to given deadlines

Very proficient with data basing and the relevant software

Experience with unconventional oil and gas plays, is required

Experience with the Bakken, Eagleford and Marcellus, in particular, is highly desirable

Ability to effectively use well data and production databases (IHS, HPDI etc…)

Familiar with software such as Spotfire, RTA Fekete, CMG, Eclipse, etc…


Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment

Very strong oral and written skills are required, as is the ability and desire to work in a multi-discipline team environment
