Specific roles will be tailored to suit Lead Geophysicist’s recognised strengths and aspirations.

Work proactively with multidisciplinary subsurface asset teams charged with the appraisal, planning and execution/ operational phases of Petrofac-operated fields. In particular, contributing qualitative and quantitative, high quality geophysical work; and providing essential information and advice to subsurface peers, drilling, and senior management.

Take responsibility for the planning and technical quality of all geophysical work carried out by subsurface asset teams during pre-development and development phases and in the support of day to day drilling and production operations.

Work collaboratively with the Functional Heads and Asset Managers to ensure that the appropriate level of technical assessment is applied to subsurface work and to reveal technical and business-related risks that may impact or affect development planning, operations and/or investment decisions.

Participate in geophysics-based peer assist and technical assurance reviews when required. Provide evidence to demonstrate that the appropriate level of work has been performed to a standard that can withstand proper technical challenge and ensure that geophysical aspects of subsurface work meet current industry and government standards.

Partake in internal/external cross asset peer assist and technical assurance reviews.

Assist in the coaching, mentoring and technical development of more junior geophysical staff.

Minimum Requirements

M.Sc. in Earth Science (or equivalent).

·

Extensive international subsurface experience with National/International Operator(s) and/or Service Providers on multiple oil and gas fields in the upstream petroleum industry.

·

Experience of working in field development roles internationally.

Technical Competencies

Extensive knowledge of and working experience in all aspects of petroleum and reservoir geophysics.

Detailed knowledge and practical experience of all types of seismic data acquisition (planning and execution), seismic processing and post-processing, rock physics and formation evaluation.

International exposure to various petroleum systems, depositional environments and reservoir types.

Proven track record of hydrocarbon exploitation and production enhancement

Skills in opportunity identification, quantification, operation and reporting for appraisal and production drilling portfolios with thorough uncertainty measurement, quantitative risk assessment and risk mitigation.

Thorough knowledge and appreciation of petrophysics, reservoir engineering, petroleum engineering, well engineering, drilling and completion practices and petroleum economics.

Experienced in building and maintaining strong relationships with Government, JV partners and Service Providers and managing associated contractual arrangements.

Detailed understanding of hydrocarbon resource estimation and reserves audit procedures.
