INEOS E&P Norge AS conducts upstream operations in oil and natural gas. The subsurface department is looking to significantly expand its portfolio of licences and increase activity in rounds and farm-in evaluations. INEOS seeks new geophysical expertise for permanent employment in our offices in Stavanger in Norway.
Responsibility
As a Lead geophysicist, your responsibility will be to provide expert geophysical support across INEOS E&P Norge’s Assets and exploration opportunities, with an emphasis on providing a quantitative geophysical evaluation to de-risk exploration, appraisal and field development opportunities, generate volumetric estimates and enable a full commercial evaluation of assets. Your work will include:Initiate and follow-up geophysical studies including AVO, QI, Inversion, and rock physics templating, in-house or in cooperation with external contractors or academic/professional organizationsSeismic structural/stratigraphic interpretation and mapping, velocity modelling for depth conversion, and quantitative/qualitative seismic attribute analyses independently as well as within a teamIdentification and quantification of geophysical/subsurface uncertainties that influence the technical and commercial robustness of plays and prospectsIdentify and mature exploration, appraisal and field development opportunities to drill ready targetsResponsible for providing Geophysical guidance to the subsurface team including peer assist/reviewRepresent INEOS at partner meetings, presenting technical work and conclusionsSupport and mentoring of staff
QualificationsGeoscience degree (M.Sc or higher) and at least 15 years relevant experienceGood regional understanding of the geology of the Norwegian Continental ShelfFamiliarity with the dominant petroleum plays on the NCS and the capacity to envisage new playsStrong experience with rock physics, seismic attribute analysis and quantitative interpretation4D seismic experience is advantageousExperience with Petrel, RocDoc and Hampson RussellExperience with Pre-Stack Pro would be desirableStrong communication skills in English both written and oralCapacity and interest in mentoring staffEnthusiastic and proactive team player with the ability to work independently
