We have a vacancy for a Lead Geophysicist based in Aberdeen and would like to hear from excellent candidates with suitable technical expertise, experience and leadership qualities.
Working within a multi-discipline team and reporting to the Kraken Subsurface Team Leader, the Lead Geophysicist will have a strong background in Seismic Interpretation, a strong fundamental understanding of Rock Physics, experience in supporting Geological Model Building and Leadership qualities that would help drive delivery of a fully integrated subsurface understanding of Kraken and near field opportunities.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (key tasks/services for which incumbent is responsible)
Play a key role in the Seismic Interpretation of the Kraken field and evaluation of near field appraisal opportunities.
Provide identification and evaluations of infill targets, including uncertainty ranges.
Work with asset team and drilling team to mature well locations to drill ready status.
Assist in the identification and justification of additional acquisition, processing and seismic modelling projects to reduce risk of drilling.
Take an active role in reservoir management strategy.
Contribute to the integrated understanding of the Kraken field dynamic performance.
Present to management, joint venture partners and OGA.
Participate in peer assists, peer reviews, and seek input from others to ensure technical high quality is achieved.
Good communication and presentation skills as well as an ability to articulate geophysical interpretation and technology in a clear and concise manner with non specialists.
Self motivated team player with ability to influence and integrated subsurface work programme.
Track record of timely delivery of assured quality projects.
Track record of influencing project outcomes through positive, quality assurance.
Skills & Experience
Detailed understanding of current industry standard geophysical techniques.
Demonstrable work experience with 3D seismic interpretation and geological software applications, including the Interpretation of Seismic Amplitude plays.
Experience in using seismic and other subsurface data to assist in Geosteering of development wells.
Significant knowledge of seismic processing methods and elastic impedance inversion (or similar), analysis of seismic attributes for identification of geological features, and synthetic seismic modelling of the subsurface.
Experience of 4D Seismic techniques.
UK North Sea experience, preferably gained with an Operator.
A current and practical knowledge of other aspects of petroleum geophysical techniques.
Experience with Petrel, Geoteric and RokDoc software.
Degree Qualified in a petroleum Geoscience.
Able to demonstrate continuing professional and personal development.
