Progress Energy currently has a vacancy for a Junior Geological Technologist for the Unconventional Center of Excellence (UCOE) to join our team in Calgary. Reporting to the Manager of UCOE Geosciences, the incumbent will aid all current Canadian and international unconventional/low permeability assets, with the addition of emerging basins. Responsibilities primarily include data clean-up for the purposes of evaluating prospects and potential acquisition opportunities by a multi-disciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Grow and learn from a senior technologist to evolve their skill sets as needed.
Quality Assurance, Control, and Improvement of a variety of geoscience data formats, with a focus on tabular and LAS data.
Work within a variety of data vintages, sources, and quality over various basins (Canadian and International), to populate into digital geoscience initiatives.
Work with a variety of Geoscience disciplines.
Required Education, Experience and Skills
Geosciences related diploma from an accredited college or institution (SAIT/NAIT).
5 Years’ experience within the oil and gas industry.
Successful candidate will be organized, practical in their knowledge base, with an attention to detail and comfortable working in a digital environment.
Consideration will be given to candidates’ overall aptitude, work ethic, and their willingness to learn from a Senior Technologist.
Knowledge of Accumap, Geoscout, GIS Systems, LAS files, spreadsheets, MS Office, and Computer language scripting would be considered an asset.
