The Reservoir Engineer will be responsible for assisting with the management of the company’s large oil properties and several waterfloods in western Saskatchewan and Alberta. The reservoirs may include clastics and carbonates. In addition, the Reservoir Engineer will assist with the design, optimization and implementation of new and existing waterflood schemes where applicable.

Main Responsibilities & Activities:

Manage the reservoir engineering of a wide range of projects relating to specific oil and gas properties
Perform various tasks including monitoring voidage replacement, recommending injection volumes and optimizing the waterflood patterns
Identify value adding opportunities such as reactivations, recompletions, development drilling locations and down spacing
Coordinate and build simulation models for use in evaluating well design, waterflood optimization and reservoir depletion plans
Analyze rate and pressure data using PTA/RTA techniques
Assist in the corporate reserve process with our independent engineering consultants
Recommend, organize and analyze technical studies, such as advanced core analysis and reservoir simulations
Assist with the creation of short term and long term development strategies
Work closely with the area exploitation engineers, geologists and field staff
Assist with resource applications to the respective provincial regulators
Play a key role in the evaluation of potential acquisitions, ranging from property to corporate evaluations
Present projects to the executive, management team and board of directors as required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required
Minimum 6 years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry is required
Minimum 3 years reservoir specific engineering is required
Current P.Eng. designation with APEGA membership is required
Experience with oil field and waterflood development is required
Strong knowledge in enhanced recovery techniques and application would be an asset
Diverse background in each production, completions and reservoir engineering would be an asset
Proficiency in the use of simulation software (CMG) for the analysis of reservoir and waterflood performance as well as completion optimization including fracture design
Aptitude and interest in data analytics and software including; MS PowerBI, Verdazo, and Spotfire to support optimal reservoir development and depletion
Solid technical knowledge of reservoir, rock parameters and fluid dynamics
Reserve evaluations and acquisition evaluations would be an asset
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in well and reservoir analysis, geoScout, Accumap, OFM, Value Navigator, IHS (Fekete) suite, PEEP, FieldView and MS Office applications
Previous programming experience (Visual Basic) would be an asset
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals
