Canadian oil sands resources are world class, but with significant challenges of novel and high cost technologies and high environmental impacts. The amount of capital contemplated for TEPCA Asset is significant and profitability is continuously challenged. This implies a high degree of scrutiny from TEPCA and Headquarters senior management and the follow-up of thorough governance process within the assets and vis a vis the Operators as well as internally in TEPCA and Total. ConocoPhillips is a major Operator in Canada. Assets has a high visibility from the top management of the companies. Total E&P; Canada, has a portfolio of three long-term assets in Alberta’s Athabasca Oil Sands region: Surmont (50%, operated by ConocoPhillips); Fort Hills (29.2%, operated by Suncor Energy Inc.); and Northern Lights Partnership (50%, operated by Total). Your accountabilities: Short-term and long-term production profiles Calibration with the operator of Surmont JV proxy tools used for production forecast over full field performance. Follow up of operator reservoir simulation studies. In-Situ field’s performance lookback on mature SAGD competition assets in Athabasca. Develop field KPI’s to enable data analytics effort to improve field performance tracking, characterization and forecast accuracy. Your main activities: Provide and/or support technical expertise in reservoir engineering in the follow-up of the development of Surmont lease: Technical evaluation of production performance of the Surmont lease and how to improve. Understanding of SAGD (Steam-assisted gravity drainage) performance and comparison to other projects (static and dynamics aspects). Evaluate, track well or pad performance evaluation against forecast and explain main divergences to best recommend improved forecasts Flexibility to use operator software for internal lease evaluation. Follow-up of operator calibration of JV software over full field performance is essential. Exposure to Petrel software in order to integrate static and dynamic data if needed. Ensure proper reporting of the activity within the affiliate. As a member of the Surmont Joint Technical Team, participate to technical workshops, reviews and committees with the partner on Sub-Surface or reservoir subject. Ensure forecast consistency with existing field performance and most recent geoscience interpretation (latest geological evaluation, most recent geophysics acquisition, reservoir monitoring data, reservoir/well/pad/plant fluid input/output), as well as operating strategy. Work with data management to develop data analytic solution to leverage completion public data that could apply to Surmont technical recommendation. Focused effort on ultimate recovery achieved vs. steam injection vs. various reservoir quality to reduced uncertainty on field assessed value. Exhibits a high degree of enthusiasm and computer skills.
