Wexpro is a Rockies focused, exploration and production company. Wexpro operates 850 wells across multiple basins with the primary target being natural gas. Wexpro is integrated with Dominion Energy’s utility in Salt Lake City, which serves Utah and Wyoming.
The petroleum engineer intern will be responsible for a project in one of several categories, which includes reservoir, completions, and production. During the summer, the intern will gain hands-on engineering experience while completing a project that will directly influence the business unit. The intern will work directly with multiple engineers and petroleum professionals to complete the project. The project could involve optimization, modeling, subsurface correlations, and data analysis.
At the end of the internship, a presentation covering the project will be given to upper level management and various technical professionals.
The position is in Salt Lake City and reports to the Manager of Geoscience and Engineering under direction from an experienced engineering mentor.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The candidate should be able to identify opportunities and challenges and have the ability to understand and manage risk.
Must have oral and written communication skills
Must have the ability to use Excel at an intermediate or higher level.
Candidates who have well log analysis expereince preferred
Experience with data software packages preferred.
Experience managing large sts of data preferred.
Candidate must be currently enrolled full-time in an ABET accredited Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering.
Candidates must have a 2.5 GPA or greater
Candidates must have an anticipated graduation date of December 2019 or later
Candidates must have completed one or more courses in petroleum engineering, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
