RDS is seeking an Instrumentation & Electrical ( I&E; ) Technician with a focus on the development and implementation of new technologies, applications, and product lines in the oil & gas service industry. This position is responsible for staying abreast of current market innovations and seeking potential applications for our company’s product lines.
The Position Requires the Incumbent To

Create, develop and implement field applications with innovative solutions for current and new product lines
Review, investigate and understand current market trends and available products in the area of instrumentation, automation and controls
Transition new product prototypes to commercially viable products
Primary Job Roles:
Install, configure, and calibrate communications equipment, networks, and other components
Conduct maintenance and upgrades; field-test upgrades to ensure proper operation
Monitor data communications and system performance
Respond quickly to system emergencies
Use, test, and troubleshoot equipment/ software to diagnose and repair malfunctions
Develop and maintain strong business relationships with vendors and suppliers to obtain parts and equipment
Maintain strong relationships with Customer and Field personal
Work with development team on various projects
Provide on-call support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to Operations on a rotating basis
Assemble, construct, and test various data acquisition telemetry systems

Reports to: Business Development Manager

Qualifications & experience:

Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Distributed Control Systems (DCSs), instrumentation, or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems (SCADA), IOT devices
Working knowledge of electrical sensors, loops, & cellular communications
I & E (Instrumentation & Electronics) training/certification
Must reside within 60 miles of the Houston,TX area

Job Requirements

1-5 Years Experience
Overnight Travel required 50% or more
Military/Oil Field Experience
Self-Starter/ performance driven
Good Driving Record
Clean Background check
Pass New-Hire and Random Drug Testing
Pass fit for work physical
Must Be 21 yrs or older
Pass all safety training and testing (TWIC, Respiratory Protection, Fit testing, ext.)
