The position requires an individual that has extensive experience in the development and application of advanced High Performance Computing (HPC) methods as applied to geophysical methods in the subsurface.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
The design, development and deployment of large-scale earth science HPC applications and workflows.
Analyzing, profiling, and improving scalability of existing earth science HPC algorithms such as full waveform inversion and reverse time migration.
Working with geophysical researchers on the development of novel algorithms and concepts for seismic imaging.
Communicating and presenting proposals and work results to internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum of a BSc degree in Geophysics, Physics, Computer Science or a Computational Science field.
Minimum of 5 years professional experience in the design, development and deployment of large-scale scientific computing applications and workflows
Practical experience in the application of parallel programming paradigms (MPI, OpenMP, SIMD/Vectorization) to scientific computing problems.
Robust background in the application of numerical techniques.
Experience with proactively evaluating and recommending emerging technologies and collaboration on design and implementation of solutions
Track record of developing and implementing novel High Performance Computing concepts.
Understanding of the opportunities and limitations posed by cloud computing and how these pertain to scientific computing workloads.
System administrator-level knowledge of HPC system infrastructure (compute, network, storage, software infrastructure)
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
