Shell Egypt runs workshop-based sessions aimed at delivering today's practical business skills to students through lectures and training conducted by experienced Shell hires, such as the Step Towards Progress (STP) at Cairo University; the Annual Conference for Engineering Students (ACES) & the Give and Gain programme at Ain Shams University, the Real Life Project at the American University of Cairo and the Al Amal Programme (Hope Programme).Job Description:Purpose:As Senior Production Geologist, the incumbent provides hands-on technical expertise, guidance, and quality assurance for the full range of PG activities such as data integration/management, developing conceptual geological and integrated static reservoir models in a range of environments (vast majority fluvial and tide-dominated shallow marine clastic, a few open marine carbonates; oil and gas; depletion and water-flood drive), field development/planning, operational geology and reservoir management. The production geology section has 14 staff, one third of which with 3-4 years experience and requiring a significant amount of coaching.Accountabilities:As a Senior Production Geologist you will be responsible for the Production Geology work content and quality in a given project/study. You will, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, contribute to reservoir prediction, optimally locating development wells with accurate predictions of their HC drainage, associated uncertainties. You will ensure full seamless integration with the other subsurface disciplines, well engineering and surface as appropriate, taking responsibility for integrated team deliverables such as FDPs and well proposals, in line with ORP guidelines (ITRs, VARs etc.) and DCAF requirements. Provide Production Geological input to well planning and execution, well and reservoir management, reservoir performance reviews, surveillance plans and other WRFM activitiesDevelop conceptual geological, sector-scale and full-field static models, integrating regional geological data, seismic data, sedimentological models, structural geological models, petrophysical and reservoir engineering data, including generation of alternative realizations, quantification of uncertainties and deterministic / probabilistic volumetric estimates. Ensure compliance with IRM minimum standards. Update these models with new data as they become availableProvide Production Geological input to reserves identification and maturationInvolved with and responsible for the scoping of new projects, their project framingAdvise on planning, progress and quality of Production Geosciences workEnsure corporate Production Geosciences standards and procedures are upheld and adhered to by the team and Group / Best practices are followed where applicablePlay an active role at cross-functional, asset, peer and technical reviews and provide discipline assurance in area of expertise, as per DCAF requirementsContribute to the development of departmental plans and work methodsEnsure usage of state of the art evaluation technologiesYou will ensure the integrity and quality of Production Geosciences data in the corporate databases in line with corporate standards and proceduresEnsure effective staff coaching, motivation, development, training and appraisal and ensure development and technology transfer. Assume at least one official coaching relationshipJob Requirements:University degree (M.Sc. or PhD) in Geoscience and some 10+ years experience in Production Geology and related subsurface evaluation work in a variety of geological settings. Strong background in sedimentary geology, reservoir architecture, sequence stratigraphy and structural geology requiredFulfils or exceeds the JCP requirements for a Production Geologist JG3, with a level of knowledge in Seismic Interpretation and Time-Depth ConversionInvolvement in the formulation, construction and execution of field development plans and participation in integrated field studies and reservoir modelling exercises and a high level of appreciation of the impact these field studies have on field development and business decisionsVersatile in the application of static reservoir modelling techniques (Petrel and PetroSigns) to a range of reservoirs and integrated reservoir problems, and skilled in the range of PG activities from well planning to field development planning, together with operational experienceAble to timely deliver high quality and well documented technical workDemonstrates drive, enthusiasm and can-do attitude, open-minded and flexibleA strong sense of team-based values with good communication skills is essential. Working closely with the surface, commercial and project execution teams and prioritizing a demanding and varied work load. Integrating, understanding links with other disciplines and providing fit-for-purpose and integrated technical solutions.
