The role of the Geoscientist supports ongoing exploration, appraisal and development projects relating to Laredo’s activities within the Permian Basin. Principal job duties as a member of the Exploration & Geosciences Technology Team are to support the ongoing development program and multidisciplinary subsurface teams. Success in this role will require collaboration with other departments including operations and engineering. The position will require the integration of large quantities of both publicly available and proprietary geological, petrophysical and geophysical data. Being a team-player is a core Laredo value and fundamentally important in being successful in this role.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support Laredo’s development program, maturing drill-readiness of selected multi-well packages though Laredo’s Gate Approval Process
Support Laredo’s microseismic analysis program through conducting analysis on existing data sets, and planning new surveys.
Implement Laredo’s high-resolution geocellular modeling workflows and projects, developing highest quality interpretations and well plans via integrating all available subsurface data.
Implement Laredo’s sequence stratigraphic framework and petrophysical analysis consistently in all technical activities.
Collaborate and participate in Laredo’s proprietary data analytics workflows
Integrate key engineering (including production & completions) data into geological analysis
Work closely with senior geoscience staff to learn, adapt and improve latest techniques and technology to advance geological expertise at Laredo
Continuously improve geoscience workflows to facilitate detailed reservoir characterization incorporating geological and geophysical data
Advise manager on value adding potential projects, workflows and techniques
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
B.S. Degree in Geology required
Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or associated Petroleum Geosciences preferred
5+ years’ experience
Ability to integrate and assimilate data of various types, ages and sources into a valid, reliable and consistent interpretation
Integrate structural framework, uncertainty analysis, geophysical and petrophysical data into interpretations.
Interpersonal skills to participate in dynamic team projects in and fast-paced team environment
Prior experience with Petrel, Transform and Kingdom software suites advantageous

This position is primarily an office position where work is normally performed in a climate controlled environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. No environmental hazards are encountered in performance of normal job duties. Some travel may be required but will likely be less than 10% of total responsibilities.
Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level. Work may require some pushing, pulling, or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds, such as files, documents or boxes. Work involves sitting in an office environment most of the time but may involve standing and walking for brief periods.
Bachelors or better in Geology.
Masters or better in Geology or related field.
