Do you want to provide geoscience skills and knowledge to evaluate new offshore exploration opportunities? Reporting to the Director of Exploration East Coast, you will be part of a subsurface team working to identify, evaluate, and recommend new opportunities to Management in order to grow Suncor’s exploration portfolio in East Coast Canada.
You will use your expertise to:
Use seismic (2D and 3D) and well data to interpret and map the structure and stratigraphy of prospective intervals in East Coast basins in order to better understand deposition trends and play fairways
Build a chronostratigraphic framework (wells and seismic) to aid sequence stratigraphic interpretations and your understanding of basin evolution, Including sediment source and supply, structural timing and accommodation space, and controls on facies distributions.
Knowledge of and the ability to use Play Fairway Analysis to develop new prospects and play ideas within the East Coast Region
Identify new leads and prospects to evaluate through deterministic and probabilistic hydrocarbon volume and risk analyses
Provide geological and geophysical interpretations to identify, evaluate, and promote prospective acreage to support exploration land sale and farm-in investment decisions
Collaborate with and provide technical support to the subsurface team
Be a key participant in subsurface peer reviews
Interface, influence, and align with our JV partners
Represent Suncor in internal and external meetings

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
B.Sc. in Geology or Geophysics
3+ years of related experience
You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
You are a self-starter with high work ethic
Proficient with Petrel and Microsoft Office
Able to apply and integrate various geoscience datasets and skillsets, including seismic interpretation, wells, and production to offshore investment decisions
Exceptional organization skills, and ability to work and thrive in a dynamic team environment

Experience in offshore exploration
Experience in extensional structural settings
M.Sc. in Geology or Geophysics
Knowledge of GeoTeric, HampsonRussell, RokDok software and the Reserves Evaluation Programme (REP)
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:
You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
This is a temporary position for a period of 12 months
