Position is for a high-level Geoscience Specialist that will work with and support multiple disciplines across several fields at different stages of development.
This position requires a strong understanding and working knowledge of geological, geophysical, and reservoir engineering data types and technical processes as well as proficiency in software applications including Landmark products (OpenWorks/Decision Space), Geographix, ArcGIS, Petrel, and Spotfire. A background in computer programming is a plus.
Subsurface data management including data import/export, manipulation, transfer, and retrieval while ensuring quality control. Providing stewardship of subsurface databases and folder structure. Ability to move data between software platforms efficiently and accurately.
Common tasks may include creating and maintaining geospatial maps, graphs and reports; working with well log data, well tops, structural surfaces, and grids; loading seismic volumes; building databases and tools for data visualization and manipulation.
- Collect and analyze data for content and quality; prepare data for use within team projects.
- Map subsurface data including geological and reservoir parameters in multiple applications.
- Mentor less experienced technicians, geoscientists, and engineers.
- Work with software vendors to provide workflow assistance; development and management of workflows and training for professionals as required.
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: 10+ years of technical experience supporting oil and gas staff.
COMPUTER PROFICIENCY: Exceptional computer skills and competency in software packages including Landmark (OpenWorks/ Decision Space), Geograhix, ArcGIS, Petrel, Spotfire, and MS Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word); programming/coding experience using Visual Basic and Python a plus.
KNOWLEDGE: Good understanding of fundamental geoscience principles and the petroleum industry. Working knowledge of geoscience and reservoir engineering data capture, data standards, and workflows, as well as understanding of drilling and completions-related data types.
COMMUNICATION/TEAM: Managing multiple projects, knowledge transfer, and networking outside of team, excellent oral, and written communication skills. Work with external vendors to track upgrades and provide training to team.
