QEP Resources is seeking a Senior Staff or Advisor level Geologist to
support different asset teams in its corporate division in Denver. This position will primarily be responsible
for conducting and guiding reservoir characterization and modeling projects. Skills
are also required to provide reservoir characterization mentoring of less
experienced staff. The work is to culminate in providing 3D reservoir models by
working in a collaborative environment to study reservoir behavior and selection
of drilling hydrocarbon locations that meet economic requirements and working
to reduce completions operations risk. This position is assigned to work with a
multi-disciplined team which includes specialists in geoscience and engineering.
structural framework, geological, geophysical (3D & Microseismic) and
petrophysical data into geologic static models
critical support to convey geologic models to reservoir engineers and work
iteratively to agree on scale and resultant dynamic reservoir simulation to
forecast ultimate hydrocarbon recovery on the basis of a given production
scheme, or to compare the economics of different recovery methods.
the technical knowledge to consider the following data to include or not as
models are constructed: geometric description, including seismic and micro
seismic data, of bounding surfaces, faults, internal bedding geometries; a 3D distribution
of permeability, porosity, saturations, relative permeability and capillary
pressure/saturation functions, fluid
pressure/volume/temperature (PVT) properties, well locations, perforation
intervals and well production or injection rates.
interpret and integrate well logs, core, stratigraphic age control data, 3D
seismic data, micro seismic data and other available geological information for
creation of reservoir description, distribution and properties incorporated
into a geologic model used for reservoir characterization and field management.
outside generated prospects for potential acquisition
with/ communicate effectively with an interdisciplinary team of geoscience,
petrophysical, engineering and land staff
Prepare and deliver presentations
to senior level management
Mentor junior to
mid-career geoscience staff on techniques and workflows
Minimum of an M.S.
degree in geology,
petrophysics or geophysics
of 10 years of experience of a multi-disciplinary team creating static
geological and flow simulation models to support ongoing oil and gas
experience in oil or tight gas formations is required. Permian Basin experience
is a plus.
be experienced with seismic data integration, and interpretation
mapping skills using geoscience computer applications including Petrel and Geographix.
Kingdom SMT for seismic is a plus.
Experience with economic modeling and
risk analysis is a plus
communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team as well as for
presentations to Sr. Management
