Lead and contribute structural and seismic stratigraphy interpretation related to 2D/3D seismic datasets in support to geological modelling and play analysis related to captured assets and New Venture evaluations. Understand and contribute to rock physics and seismic attribute analysis, provide inputs to seismic survey design, seismic acquisition operations and data processing as required for the execution of work programmes. Mentor more junior technical staff.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
Ensure implementation of instructions and controls covering a specific area of geophysical activity as needed so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
Perform full structural and stratigraphic interpretation of 2D/3D seismic datasets, execute TWT mapping, perform velocity studies and prepare velocity models using both well and seismic velocities. Produce depth models and depth maps as required and according to the Exploration Department requirements.
Perform or contribute to rock physics projects and seismic attribute analysis, seismic inversion studies, fluid substitution modelling etc.
Understand seismic stratigraphic principles and support geologists in the interpretation and understanding of basin fill sequences with emphasis on the various elements of the petroleum system
Geophysical Operations and Data Processing
Conduct Geophysical Operations and Data Processing.
Help designing and planning new seismic surveys. Assist during seismic acquisition and data processing.
A bachelor’s degree in geology or geophysics. A Master degree in related field would be preferred. Extensive experience in seismic data interpretation and mapping as well as velocity modeling and TWT to depth conversion techniques. In depth knowledge of the Oil and Gas business. Sound awareness of the local and international factors that affect the Oil and Gas E&P; business.
Minimum 5-15 year experience in the E&P; industry and in a Geophysical interpretation role.
Excellent structural interpretation skills. Ability to interface, work with and mentor team members and ability to provide necessary inputs to geological and basin modeling projects. Planning and resource allocation skills, good communication and presentation skills, good interpersonal skills.
