The Trinidad Region produces approximately 2.1 bcfd of gas (~55% of the country’s demand), underpinned by nearby existing upstream infrastructure, established midstream operations and long term gas sales contracts in the Region. The Trinidad Subsurface teams have progressed a successful Area Development Plan that has included successful exploration and development well drilling. Success has been underpinned by two phases of High Density 3D Ocean Bottom Seismic data sets acquired and processed between 2011 and 2018 using technical limit acquisition and processing technologies. Analysis and interpretation of these datasets has and continues to be an important tool in the identification of new exploration leads and the de-risking of existing and new field development plans. Because of the high-quality nature of these datasets, potential remains for identification of further exploration and development potential using advanced seismic analysis techniques. In addition, future reprocessing of existing seismic datasets and future seismic data acquisition will require design of fit for purpose data for continual geophysical analysis including advanced AVO and Seismic Rock Property workflows.The Seismic Delivery team is seeking an experienced seismic analyst to develop and conduct seismic analysis workflows, generate seismic rock properties and support subsurface teams in using advanced seismic products. This role requires one to work with both local and global subsurface teams and global subject matter experts. Experience in advanced processing techniques, seismic survey design and advanced interpretation techniques will be considered advantageous. This role requires network building and collaboration with the company’s global geophysical community and at times working with partners and contractors. Candidate will be exposed to best in class geophysical technologies including many developed and implemented by BP.
- Develop geophysical analysis workflows and products using regions seismic and well data to identify or de-risk hydrocarbon resources in the Columbus basin.- Support Exploration and Reservoir Development teams in use and application of seismic analysis tools and products.- Use seismic analysis techniques to support design, development and execution of the processing of new seismic data and reprocessing of existing seismic volumes- Use of seismic analysis techniques in the design of safe, efficient and optimal geophysical surveys- Contribute to the long term planning of geophysical activities to progress the regions Area Development Plan.- Participate in the global Applied Geophysics communities of practice, sharing lessons learned and collaborating on global technical issues.- Coaching and mentoring of less experienced staff in particular advanced geophysics theory and analysis.
University Degree or higher in Physics, Mathematics or Geoscience discipline.
Essential experience and job requirements
- 8 years’ experience, preferably in Oil and Gas Industry- Experience and strong abilities in developing and executing seismic analysis workflows including the generation of synthetic seismic data, seismic AVO products and advanced seismic attribute volumes.- Ability to apply first principles in Geophysics to solving subsurface imaging and analysis problems- Strong background in seismic processing techniques and the use of analysis techniques in the quality control of processing projects- Working background in 3D seismic interpretation and integration of geological interpretation products with seismic attributes.- Strong track record of delivery and experience working in integrated multi-functional teams- Ability to integrate large amounts of data and draw robust technical insights- Demonstrated ability to work with contractors, upstream partners and technical consortia teams.- Please note that this role is only open for Trinidad and Tobago nationals

- Post Graduate degree in Physics, Mathematics or Geoscience discipline- Experience in use of seismic analysis software and tool kits (e.g. Hampson Russell, Rokdoc, Petrel plugins)- Experience in the use of programming code to design analysis tools. (e.g. Mathlab, Python)- Experience and comfort in use of Linux based systems and environments- Experience in advanced seismic inversion techniques including Full Waveform Inversion and Elastic Inversion techniques.
