PositionReporting to the Exploration Manager, the Geophysicist – North Team will have a focus on ORLEN Upstream Canada’s Northern Business Unit assets, including a large 3D in the Kakwa Area.The candidate will have a strong track record, which shows a history of significant contribution through their effective interpersonal and communication skills, proactivity, ability to prioritize work and bring a high level of professionalism to their work. A solid track record of exposure to unconventional assets including demonstrated value growth through time is a must.The candidate will play an important role working within a multi-disciplinary team of geoscientists, engineers, finance/accounting, and land.Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities3D seismic depth conversion at multiple reservoir levelsCharacterize regional faults and localized fractures utilizing 3D seismicFamiliar with quantitative interpretation techniquesAnalyze pre-stack inversion and relate elastic property estimates to predict dynamic geo-mechanical and reservoir propertiesGenerate multiple seismic attributes for use in multi-variate statisticsIntegrate geologic information into the seismic interpretationAnalyze microseismic data for maximum data generationStay current on seismic innovations regarding unconventional reservoirsBe an integral part of the development team promoting interdisciplinary collaborationEducation, Experience and SkillsUniversity Degree (or higher) in Geophysics and P.Geoph designation is requiredMinimum of 10 years or more of relevant experience in the oil and gas industryExposure to unconventional resource plays with previous experience working Montney or Duvernay is essentialFamiliarity with geomechanical models is an assetStrong technical/computer skills with demonstrated experience in Transform, Seisware GeoScout and other seismic inversion softwareOperations experience in planning, drilling and geosteering horizontal wells is essentialExperience using DAS (Distributed Acoustic Sensing) an assetHighly motivated, self-starting individual who works effectively in a team environmentJob Types: Full-time, PermanentExperience:Geophysicist: 10 years (Required)Education:Bachelor's (Required)Job Location:Calgary, AB (Required)License or certification:P.
