For some of our clients in the offshore oil & gas industry we are looking for a Geophysicist.
Accountability

The Geophysicist/Seismic interpreter will support the management and technical teams by providing appropriate, accurate and timely geophysical analyses used in assessing business opportunities.

Your activities are, for example:
Participate in multi-disciplinary teams in evaluating technical opportunities;

Provide geophysical support and evaluations, e.g. seismic interpretation, depth conversion, special studies;

Plan, conduct and supervise exploration studies for the operated Dutch & Danish offshore acreage;

Construct static models;

Advise on geological aspects of new business opportunities in the Netherlands and Denmark;

Identify, evaluate and promote exploration opportunities to enhance the overall value of the organization’s operations;

Support NL & DK asset and exploration management;

Evaluate prospect volumes and associated risk;

Participate in teamwork to achieve cost-effective and successful exploration and development programmes;

Interpretation and mapping of G&G; data to support business decisions in areas such as;

– Acreage evaluations for licensing rounds, license renewal, new ventures opportunities

– Exploration prospect generation

– Development well planning

– Field evaluations

Seismic survey program layout, initiating and monitoring technical projects including seismic processing;

Support well location and trajectory planning;

Well seismic program design, acquisition and processing monitoring;

Documentation of project work, maintaining project and corporate databases and records archives;

Technical presentations to peers and external meetings;

Participate in multi-disciplinary teams undertaking appropriate geophysical evaluations leading to technical recommendations for significant corporate expenditures;

Timely and accurate geophysical contribution to the following decisions:

– Acreage acquisition

– Seismic data acquisition, processing and reprocessing

– Seismic interpretations & mapping (Petrel)

– Velocity analysis

– Special geophysical studies

– Volumes and risk assessments (GeoX)

– Planning/drilling wells

– Well seismic data acquisition and processing

– Field development

– Production Geophysics

Role provides high-grade technical assessment and support to management whose key decisions are guided by this advice. Main decisions are technical judgements;

Geological and geophysical understanding for major decisions on, for example:

– Regional studies

– Applications for new acreage

– M&A; activities

– Drilling of wells

– Acquisition of seismic data & well seismic programs (e.g. VSP, check shots)

– Technical studies

Qualifications

At least an MSc/MEng degree in geology or in a related geoscience;

North Sea experience;

Over 5 years of professional experience in reservoir engineering gained in oil/gas industry, gained in a North Sea operating environment, preferably including development and new play evaluations;

Current knowledge of standard interpretation, mapping and geo-modelling applications, e.g. Petrel;

Experience with Netherlands Oil and Gas Industry and exploration regulations;

Preference for candidates with Chalk evaluation experience;

Relevant experience of the upstream cycle from frontier exploration through field appraisal, to development, production and rehabilitation;

Proven track record of technical excellence and achievement in evaluation and securing best value from technical opportunities.
