Encana’s Operations group has an exciting opportunity for a Geophysicist to join our team. This position will be based our Woodlands, TX office.
Responsibilities:
accountable for pre-stack and post-stack seismic interpretation, inversion, attribute calculation, rock physics analysis, gather conditioning, and processing for use in reservoir characterization and development
utilize high-level programming languages, like Python and R, and be able to work on a multi-disciplinary team to build complex, multi-variate models by using and generating geoscience-based inputs
responsible for microseismic data gathering interpretation and integration into geologic modeling and reservoir performance
responsible for induced seismicity analysis for potential hazards, risk assessments and for completion efficiency
develop new/novel concepts in geophysics and geomechanics to improve the performance of Encana reservoirs, and the ability to articulate the technology
interacting with geophysicists, geologists, engineers, and petrophysicists to delineate reservoir complexities and improve Encana developments
Initial objective would be to evaluate wellbore spacing, landing depths and treatment order and design with Anadarko Team
Qualifications:
M.S. degree preferred in Geophysics, Geology, or related field.
minimum 5+ years of recent seismic analysis experience (geomechanics, inversion, modeling, attribute & processing) in unconventional resource plays
expertise in either Python or R programming languages and understanding of multi-variate statistics and model building
expertise in IHS Kingdom, Spotfire, Hampson-Russell, Petrel, Pre-stack Pro, ArcGIS/QGIS
2-D and 3-D seismic interpretation experience
must be highly driven, self-motivated, creative, and agile
experience in working on a multi-disciplined team
must have excellent oral, written, and formal presentation skills
adept at interaction with a variety of contacts, internal and external, including management, industry and academic consortia.
must possess excellent people and teamwork skills
