Join a dynamic and creative team – top end technical work
Innovative workplace that promotes diversity, inclusion & flexibility
Oil Search was established in Papua New Guinea in 1929 and is the country’s largest oil producer and private employer. Over 95% of its assets are in PNG, where it holds oil and gas production and exploration licenses plus a 29% interest in the US$19 billion PNG LNG Project. This world class liquefied natural gas (LNG) development, which delivered its first LNG sales in May 2014, has quadrupled Oil Search’s production and transformed the Company into a major LNG exporter.
Oil Search has a clear strategy to drive future growth. We are pursuing opportunities to develop additional LNG trains in PNG, underpinned by existing discovered gas resources in the NW Highlands, including the P’nyang gas field in PRL 3, and the Elk-Antelope fields in the onshore Gulf Province. Oil Search believes that there is presently sufficient gas to support at least two PNG LNG-sized expansion trains and possibly three trains, contingent on additional appraisal drilling.
A unique opportunity now exists for a Geophysicist to join the business and contribute to one of the company’s top 5 strategic initiatives for 2018/19.

Integration of geophysical data with other reservoir data to both identify and resolve as much as practical areas of data conflict and inconsistencies
Tertiary qualifications in Geology or Geophysics
5-6+ years’ of geophysical interpretation experience across mature producing oil and gas fields and complex geological settings
Experience in seismic and remote sensing methods to resolve complex structural scenarios, proven record in well-tie analyses, time depth conversion, structural interpretation / modelling (Petrel), deterministic and probabilistic GRV/ volumetric analyses, uncertainty & risk assessment
Proven ability to work independently, can meet strict deadlines with a strong delivery focus
An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards
An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization with excellent communication skills and a strong ability to influence at a senior level
