Denbury is conducting a search for a Geophysicist with collaborative experience working in a multidisciplinary team to apply quantitative geophysical workflows for optimization of secondary and tertiary oil recovery. Denbury’s Geophysics team reports through our Business Development and Technology Business Unit, supporting all corporate asset teams. The primary purpose for this position is to improve characterization and surveillance efforts utilizing existing 2D/3D/4D seismic data for the evaluation and development of future and active Enhanced Oil Recovery with CO2. The role will also require generation of value justification for new 3D/4D acquisition. The Geophysicist will be extremely self-motivated, work with limited supervision, and can reprioritize as necessary.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Specific experience in modeling seismic response in CO2EOR reservoir conditions and communicating risks and uncertainties related to seismic data quality
Specific experience in utilizing AVO for surveillance of CO2EOR in clastic and carbonate reservoirs
Specific knowledge and application of seismic petrophysics
Decision risk analysis related to justification of seismic acquisition projects
Ability to QC 2D/3D/4D seismic processing and inversion workflows
Ability to apply prestack seismic inversion to 3D and 4D data resulting in useful reservoir properties
Experience in application of inverted reservoir properties to reservoir modeling and iterative simulation workflows
Capable of communicating extensional and compressional impact on seismic interpretation and delivering that interpretation to the asset team in collaborative work environment
Utilization of various software for application of time/depth relationships to 3D/4D seismic

Educational requirements
M.S. or Ph.D. in Geophysics or Geoscience with an emphasis in Geophysics

Additional experience required
Experience managing seismic acquisition projects from Design, Bid through Acquisition, Processing and Interpretation is a plus
Experience with potential field data (3D Resistivity, Gravity, Magnetics) is a plus
Coordination with University Consortia and Research organizations is a plus
Software Experience: RokDoc, Hampson Russell, IHS Kingdom Geophysics and Geology, Petrel Geophysics, Decision and Risk Analysis software (Palisades)

Environmental/Physical Demands
Work will primarily be conducted in an office environment; travel may be required to district and field offices and/or oil and gas production facilities, with the occasional need to wear personal protective equipment. Position requires the ability to frequently communicate information and to manage the possible stress of an office environment. Work may include being stationary for long periods of time, with occasional movement about the office. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds is required. Position requires constant operation and viewing of a computer screen and other office machinery.
