BP is seeking Senior Exploration Geophysicist to be a part of the Gulf of Mexico Exploration team. The Exploration Geophysicist will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for progressing the exploration program across the Gulf of Mexico.

BP is seeking Senior Exploration Geophysicist to be a part of the Gulf of Mexico Exploration team. The Exploration Geophysicist will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for progressing the exploration program across the Gulf of Mexico.

Key Accountabilities:

The individual will have the following key accountabilities:
Deliver and own the prospect inventory. This will include detailed prospect mapping, subsurface description, seismic analysis, risking, volumetrics and inputs to economic evaluation.
Deliver ready to drill prospects to be included in the exploration main plan. This will include taking the prospects through Peer Assist and the Exploration technical assurance process.
Deliver new access recommendations via technical work associated with lease sales, and inorganic options via data rooms with other parties.
Support well planning and operations, working as a part of a multifunctional team.
Complete post well evaluation of exploration wells and provide recommendations on the way forward. This will include assessment and handover of discovered resources in a success case, and failure analysis in a case of dry hole.
Lead and coordinate seismic activities and planning in Gulf of Mexico exploration. Articulate seismic requirements and communicate to stakeholders. Provide critical interpretation support for seismic imaging projects. Liaise with BP technology groups to ensure the utilization of new seismic technology in the Gulf of Mexico via acquisition, processing, imaging, and analysis projects.
Work with partners and other external bodies. Influence both operating and non-operating JV partners, leading the technical interaction in workshops and technical committee meetings. Monitor competitor activity.
Organize and participate in appropriate BP technical peer and assurance reviews. Coach and mentor junior geoscientists.

Essential Education
M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Geophysics.

Essential Experience and Job Requirements
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience strongly preferred. Will also consider exceptional candidates with 5-10 years of experience.
Preference for candidates with Gulf of Mexico experience.
Expertise in seismic interpretation and subsurface integration in complex subsalt areas.
Established track record of exploration success.
Significant experience in seismic processing, imaging and analysis in areas with complex subsurface.
Expertise in seismic interpretation and attribute analysis. Petrel expertise is a plus.
Expertise in salt interpretation.
Deep understanding of rock properties, wave propagation and seismic acquisition methods.
Demonstrated track record of being a strong integrator across subsurface disciplines.
Experience in planning, organizing, and leading multiple exploration projects.
Experience in well planning, operations and post-well description.
Strong performance bias and the ability to deliver despite the pressures of tight timelines and competing priorities.
Ability to successfully manage large number of interfaces and relationships to ensure good communication and facilitate alignment.
Ability to work in a high paced and dynamic work environment.
