The ideal candidate will demonstrate a record of varied technical exposure to many global basins & petroleum systems with career focus to date in the Gulf of Mexico.
The position requires a self-starter, comfortable in a fast-paced environment and proficient in using seismic interpretation to build 3D models, recommend new and infill wells, assist with well planning and operations and incorporating multi-disciplinary data.
The candidate will be experienced in well planning with a demonstrated ability to work across disciplines including Drilling, Subsurface and Regulatory. Experience and willingness to provide operational support while drilling is required.
A demonstrated proficiency in Petrel is required. A firm understanding of geologic models for resource/reserve estimation is also required. Risk assessment utilizing statistical software such as GeoX, AVO and seismic inversion analysis, and a firm understanding of depositional systems is beneficial. Experience with seismic reprocessing, basin modeling and petroleum systems is a plus.
Candidates with a demonstrated record of supporting field development in the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico will be advantaged.
A demonstrated ability to construct field models, document results and develop a concise supporting presentation to clearly communicate recommendations to management, partners and regulatory authorities is required.
Candidates must structure and coordinate technical interactions with partners and regulatory authorities to ensure alignment in delivery of business goals.
Essential Responsibilities:
Infill and new well delivery – Assess and recommend drilling of new wells and infill wells to effectively and efficiently produce field(s).
Interpret seismic and well logs, generate maps and cross sections, conduct risk and reserve/resource analysis, and present supporting work to management.
Pre-drill well preparation and planning. Interface with Drilling, Subsurface, Regulatory and Partners.
Provide operations support in drilling/rig program and update field results and reserves as needed.
Peer assist; collaboration both within the team and external support
Education, Experience & Other Training:
M.S. in Geology or Geophysics is required.
Minimum of 15 years of experience is required, with 10 years current experience in deepwater GOM. Preference is 20+ years of industry experience.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment is essential.
Demonstrated proficiency in 3D seismic interpretation, amplitude analysis and reservoir modeling support in Petrel is required. Experience with Landmark's Decision Space interpretation platform would be beneficial.
Experience with well planning and supporting well operations is required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
