This is an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified and motivated geophysicist to join our rapidly expanding team. You will play a key technical role in delivering passive seismic monitoring solutions to address a wide range of applications including induced seismic monitoring and surface imaging of hydraulic fracturing completions.
We are looking for someone who will continuously participate in the development and evaluation of new geophysical data processing techniques and advanced data products.
Process and interpret large geophysical datasets from various passive seismic monitoring applications.
Setup and customize real-time or offline processing systems for optimal detection and characterization of seismic events.
Lead implementation and integration of new geophysical data processing techniques into client project workflows.
Provide continuous feedback on Nanometrics data analysis tools and processes to drive bug fixes, design changes and usability improvements related to the Analyst team that is processing the events on a 24/7 basis.
Generate technical reports and presentations for clients.
Present processing results and lead technical discussions with clients.
Conducts all business activities in accordance with Nanometrics HSE policies and company legal compliance requirements.
Minimum BSc in Geophysics, Seismology, Physics or Engineering
Availability for occasional out of hours work associated with the setup and troubleshooting critical monitoring projects and field station installs
Proficiency and extensive experience with scientific programming languages including Python and Matlab.
Proficiency in math and signal processing.
Understanding of and experience with the principles and techniques for earthquake analysis and hydraulic fracturing
Qualities & Assets:
Experience as a professional geoscientist in the oil & gas or related industry.
Prior experience with real-time local or regional seismic network data acquisition, management and analysis.
Prior experience with DI Transform analytical tool.
Experience with acquisition, processing, management and interpretation of surface microseismic data sets both for realtime induced seismicity and hydraulic fracture imaging applications.
Prior experience with seismic data processing techniques including but not limited to: double difference relocation, velocity model building, AI techniques, STA/LTA triggering, template matching, beamforming, noise-reduction filtering, event magnitude computation, focal mechanism/moment tensor inversion and stress field inversion
