Gravitude AS is a subsidiary of OCTIO AS. Gravitude delivers worldwide high-accuracy monitoring of offshore hydrocarbon reservoirs.
Gravitude’s technology measures tiny changes in the gravitational field on the seafloor that occur when fluids with different densities move in the subsurface. Furthermore, the technology allows to measure changes in the seafloor depth with a sensitivity of a few millimeters. The spatial distribution of seafloor deformation can be interpreted in terms of hydrocarbon depletion through the reservoir.
When combined, gravimetry and seafloor depth measurements provide information on the dynamical evolution of fluids within a gas or oil reservoir, which is used by oil companies to drain the hydrocarbons more efficiently. This is obtained at a cost that is a small fraction of that of the wider-spread seismic technology.
