AberdeenContractOur client is currently recruiting for the position of Geophysicist, based in Aberdeen.
Responsibilities will include:
Identify, map and prepare prospects/developments for drilling
Experienced at 2D and 3D seismic interpretation, time and depth (including time to depth conversion).
QC data and identify areas for improving seismic data; make recommendations for reprocessing or acquisition of new seismic data. Engage with seismic contractors to ensure delivery of high quality products
Assist in preparation of licence round applications and appraisal and development programmes.
Work with reservoir engineers, geologists and petrophysicists to build/maintain/update static reservoir models.
Identify the principal geophysical uncertainties and risks; assess impact on volumetrics.
Provide input to data gathering strategies and pre-drill data packages
Provide input to deterministic and probabilistic volume estimations
Qualifications & Experience
Educated to degree level in geology/geophysics or similar discipline.
Significant experience in the oil and gas industry, ideally gained in an operating environment
A strong understanding of geoscience concepts, to include structural, facies and sequence stratigraphic analysis
Experienced in seismic interpretation techniques and software including Petrel
Experienced in map generation and depth conversion techniques.
Good understanding of key geophysical (including interpretation) uncertainties and quantification of these
Experienced in deterministic and probabilistic volumetric calculations
Broad experience gained in a variety of depositional settings and basins
Knowledge of field development planning
Peer Review experience
