Marathon Oil Corporation is an independent energy company engaged in exploration and production in the US as well as internationally and has a leasehold position in the Delaware Basin in Southeastern NM. The Company holds acreage in Lea, Eddy and Chaves Counties.
 
The successful candidate will be part of the Permian Subsurface team responsible for developing Marathon Oil’s assets across the Delaware Basin.  Marathon is rapidly ramping up activity and planning to run a multi-rig program to actively develop this asset, making this an opportunity to work in a very fast paced and rewarding environment. This position will report to the Geoscience Supervisor and will be located in Houston, TX. 
 
Responsibilities:

Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to aid in identification of potential well locations and to provide guidance on geosteering of horizontal wells.
Analyze correlation between various seismic attributes and production to help identify areas to target and avoid.
Integrate results of new wells into interpretations. 
Incorporate learnings from regional studies generated by the Exploration Team into the sub-regional analysis.
Integrate these analyses with other members of the development team in generating Plans of Development for the respective area.
Interface with Integrated Performance Organization on inversion, depth migration, seismic reservoir characterization and microseismic related projects.

Qualifications:

Degree: Masters required
Major Discipline: Geophysics preferred
Years’ Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in Geophysics preferred.
Travel Required: Up to 20%
Computer Proficiencies: Extensive experience with OpenWorks, including SeisWorks/ DecisionSpace and associated wellbore planning modules, is required.  Intermediate PC skills are required in Microsoft desktop suites.  Experience with Petrel, Geographix, ArcGIS, and onshore data bank software suites is preferred.
