INEOS E&P; Norge AS conducts upstream activities in oil and natural gas. The subsurface department is looking to significantly expand its portfolio of licences and increase activity in rounds and farm-in evaluations. We are seeking a Geophysicist and a Geoscientist for permanent employment at our offices in Stavanger, Norway.
Geophysicist
The Geophysicist in the Subsurface Alve/Marulk Team will focus on providing expert geophysical support across Asset and Exploration, with an emphasis on providing quantitative geophysical evaluations to de-risk exploration, appraisal and field development opportunities, as well as generating volumetric estimates and enable a full commercial evaluation of assets.
Responsibilities:Initiate and follow-up geophysical studies including AVO, QI, Inversion, and rock physics templating, in-house or in cooperation with external contractors or academic/professional organizationsSeismic structural/stratigraphic interpretation and mapping, velocity modelling for depth conversion, and quantitative/qualitative seismic attribute analyses independently as well as within a teamIdentification and quantification of geophysical/subsurface uncertainties that influence the technical and commercial robustness of plays and prospectsIdentify and support maturing exploration, appraisal and field development opportunities to drill ready targetsRepresent INEOS at partner meetings, presenting technical work and conclusionsSupport exploration and development/production drilling operations
Qualifications:Preferably University Degree (M.Sc.) and 10 years' relevant experience in petroleum geophysics (exploration geophysics and/or development/production geophysics)Good understanding of seismic and well data acquisition as well as seismic well ties and depth conversionGood understanding of structural interpretation, rock physics, seismic attributes, AVO and inversion analyses, and the application of DHI analysis (incl. SAAM) to prospect assessmentGeneral understanding of stratigraphy, sedimentology, and structural geology of petroleum basinsGeneral petroleum systems analysis understanding - source rock and hydrocarbon generation, migration and timing, reservoir and trap formation, play risk assessmentRegional understanding of the geology of the NCSWorking knowledge of the petroleum value chain and business developmentExperience with PETREL, RockDoc, Hampson Russell and GeoX softwares, ArcGIS, GeoTeric, Paleoscan and PsPro softwaresStrong communication and presentation skills in English both written and oralEnthusiastic and proactive team player with the ability to collaborate across different technical and commercial disciplines outside the subsurface department
Geoscientist
The Geoscientist in the Subsurface Ormen Lange Team will focus on evaluating exploration opportunities in the Greater Ormen Lange area through license work and concession rounds.
Responsibilities:Perform seismic interpretation, well correlation, and geological mapping at both regional and prospect level, play evaluations and detailed prospect mappingProspect assessment and generation, prospect risk analysis and volumetric resource uncertainty evaluationIdentify and mature exploration, appraisal and field development opportunities to drill ready targetsIdentification and quantification of subsurface risks and uncertainties that influence the technical and commercial robustness of plays and prospectsContribute to NCS round applications and business development evaluation projects as requiredRepresent INEOS at partner meetings, presenting technical work and conclusionsLicense administration and budgeting as requiredMentor less senior geoscientists as requiredContribute to the advancement of the geoscience discipline and the horizontal and vertical integration within INEOS Oil & Gas multidisciplinary value creation teams
Qualifications:Preferably University Degree in Geoscience (MSc or higher) and 10 years' experience in petroleum exploration geology or geophysics, can be in combination with petroleum development/production geology/geophysicsGood understanding of seismic and well data acquisition and managementGood understanding of stratigraphy, sedimentology, and structural geology of petroleum basinsGeneral petroleum systems analysis understanding - source rock and hydrocarbon generation, migration and timing, reservoir and trap formation, play risk assessmentFamiliarity with the dominant petroleum plays on the NCS and the capacity to envisage new playsWorking knowledge of seismic well ties and depth conversionWorking knowledge of the petroleum value chain and business developmentExperience with PETREL, GeoX softwares, ArcGIS, GeoTeric, and Paleoscan softwaresWorking knowledge about seismic AVO and inversion analyses and the application of DHI analysis (incl.
