TemporaryGeology Summer Student
Vermilion has an excellent opportunity for a Geology Summer Student based in the Calgary office. Reporting to the Lead Senior Geologist, the Geology Summer Student will assist the geoscience staff in evaluating Vermilion’s producing properties, under developed land and/or new opportunities. You will work as a member of a technical team that includes Geologists, Geophysicists, Technologists, Engineers and Landmen. This is a 4 month summer position commencing in May 2019.
Reading well logs, picking tops and cutoffs;
Creating maps and cross sections;
Gathering and summarizing of various geological data;
Analyzing core or rock data; and
Integrating production and/or seismic data when applicable;
Providing final recommendations or write ups for any and all project work completed
Essential Experience & Skills
3rd of 4th year currently enrolled or graduating in a Bachelor of Science program majoring in Geology
Ability to be initiative and willing to learn
Enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Highly organized with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Self- starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision
Previous experience in the oil and gas industry desired, but not necessary
Team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals
