Berry Petroleum Company, LLC is currently recruiting for a Geology Analyst, Sr. to performs complex and varied data analysis in support of geology staff.The Geology Analyst, Sr. will operate as a technical specialist working under general supervision and guidance from geologists and management, within the Business Development team.Key AccountabilitiesOrganize and manage existing corporate geologic data and databases.Recommend changes, with proper controls implemented, to geological databases as dictated by changing corporate needs.Provide broad-based geoscience support and assistance to the Geology department to ensure that company safety and business targets are achieved. This includes but is not limited to: coordinating access to multiple data types, integrating inputs from Geology, Engineering, Land, etc., preparing displays for technical and management presentations, and downloading data from state and industry databases (IHS, DI, TGS), generating maps and cross sections.Digitize and prep data including well logs and maps; load data into interpretation software.Work daily in a collaborative environment with the business development team and formulate recommendations as an individual contributor and in a team environment.Work with geologists to ensure projects are kept up-to-date and meet data requirements needed to maintain the progress of the projects.Manage future software transitions by facilitating database transfers.Monitor new technologies and draws upon expertise to make recommendations for further exploitation of existing technologies.Coordinate with other departments to resolve complex problems.Provide intermediate-level, discipline-specific training to systems users as needed.Responsible for mentoring and training less experienced analysts and techs.Actively participate in team meetings, contribute to decisions, and share responsibility for team-directed activities.Develop expert level knowledge and skills in area of specialty.Demonstrate leadership potential as opportunities arise.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Geology, Natural Sciences, Business, or related field is required.8+ years of progressive work experience supporting geologists within oil and gas exploration and production.Strong database management and organization skills required.Experience loading and analyzing geological data.Regional experience in several oil and gas producing basins, including exposure to multiple state regulatory schemes preferred.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong understanding of the overall business objectives surrounding the oil and gas industry; strong understanding of oil and gas operations, production, and reserves.Demonstrated ability to think analytically and solve complex problems independently.Ability to balance and understand both back-end organization of data and front-end user accessibility.Strong understanding of geological data analysis and reporting methodologies.Advanced computer skills, including Petra, Kingdom, Petrel, and WellView.Basic knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Aries, Spotfire, Techlog and IllustratorAdvanced working knowledge in geology.Ability to write or code scripts (i.e. Visual Basic, Python, etc) for access to subsurface data a plus.Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Project management, planning, and organization skills.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary depending on experience including a short-term cash incentive bonus and long-term incentive awarded in restricted share units.
