Job DescriptionBerry Petroleum is currently recruiting for a Geology Analyst who is able to independently perform complex and varied data analysis in support of geology staff. The Geology Analyst operates as a technical specialist working under general supervision and guidance from geologists and management.Key AccountabilitiesGrows skill set through evaluation and application of new or improved knowledge and processes.Formulates recommendations as an individual contributor and as part of a team.Develops expert level knowledge and skills in area of specialty.Interacts with the cross-functional teams that affect each other's daily work.Responsible for mentoring and training less experienced analysts.Demonstrates leadership potential as opportunities arise.Provides broad-based geoscience support and assistance to the Geology department to ensure that company safety and business targets are achieved.Initiates and develops highly accurate and reliable geological data analysis and reporting methodologies.Monitors new technologies and draws upon expertise to make recommendations for further exploitation of existing technologies.Works with geologists to ensure projects are kept up-to-date and meet data requirements needed to maintain the progress of the projects.Provides intermediate-level, discipline-specific training to systems users.Acts as a team leader or task leader on certain projects.Coordinates with other departments to resolve complex problems.Actively participates in team meetings, contributes to decisions, and shares responsibility for team-directed activities.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Geology, Business, or related field is required.Level of complexity and scope generally involves knowledge and skills acquired through 8+ years of progressive work experience supporting geologists within oil and gas exploration and production.Regional experience in several oil and gas producing basins, including exposure to multiple states regulatory schemes a plus.Experience in building geologic cross sections a plus.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesCriticalExcellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.Project management, planning, and organization skills.Efficiently manage multiple, competing priorities.Ability to guide and direct others within a team.Demonstrated ability to think analytically and solve complex problems independently.Work independently and collaboratively within a team environment to drive results.Positive attitude and support for company culture and goals.RequiredAdvanced working knowledge in geology.Strong understanding of the overall business objectives surrounding the oil and gas industryStrong understanding of oil and gas operations, production, and reserves.Strong understanding of geological data analysis and reporting methodologies.DesiredAdvanced computer skills, including Petrel, Petra, and WellView.Berry Petroleum, LLC. is an equal opportunity employer.
