Title: Geologist with GIS and Shale

Position Description: The Geologist position is primarily responsible for leading and conducting the geological evaluation of oil and gas resources in North America. Geological assessments will include a strong emphasis on basin evolution and integration of tectonics and stratigraphy. The Geologist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team involved in integration of data to deliver holistic resource estimates and forecasts. In addition, the geologist will actively identify and assess new opportunities.

Job responsibilities include:
Evaluate unconventional oil and gas resources effectively to generate play and sub-play views that support resource estimates, forecasts, and play understanding Perform analyses of structural geology, minerology, sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy to generate subsurface maps and views on play and sub-play limits Evaluate thermal maturity and identify resource constitution across the areal extent of unconventional plays Apply strong mapping capabilities to generate visual aids for understanding and communicating regional structures, cross-sections, and relative values using ArcGIS and other related software Interpret petro-physical and well log data in support of analysis of stacked pay opportunities and economic limits within the areal extent of plays Deliver high-quality interpretation products, including quality control and overall integration of all relevant geoscience studies / results from contributing specialists

Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field is required. Master's degree highly preferred. Must be able to transition from granular, well-level details to big picture play-level dynamics seamlessly. Strong ArcGIS mapping skills in an oil and gas environment required. Petra, Geographix, Petrel, or other geologic interpretation software is a plus. Microsoft Office (Excel, word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access) skills required. Must be able to work both independently and in collaboration with the team to generate new concepts, analytical techniques, and opportunities. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing workflows. Excellent organizational skills and task-oriented focus required. Demonstrate personal leadership and provide a strong creative influence for the team.
