The primary focus of this position is to provide technical support on regional geologic evaluation in key areas of the Apache exploration portfolio. Successful candidates must demonstrate expertise in structural and stratigraphic integration for basin evaluation along with the ability to train and mentor geoscience staff. Successful candidates will work with the Apache regions on regional evaluation for prospect generation, maturation and well planning. Identify opportunities to improve regional play analysis workflows and documentation of best practices. Work collaboratively with Exploration Evaluation to quantify geological inputs into the Apache exploration portfolio. Mentor geoscience staff and conduct training on basin evaluation and advanced techniques in thermochronology.
MS in Geology required, Phd. in Geology preferred; Minimum of 7 years in industry; Strong structural, stratigraphic and petroleum systems skills; Expertise working rift systems and utilizing thermochronology; Ability to work across multiple software platforms in seismic interpretation, well log interpretation and basin modeling; Experience in regional geological evaluation in both Conventional and Unconventional reservoirs leading to prospect generation, maturation and well planning; Ability to travel frequently to Apache’s region offices; Cairo, Midland, Aberdeen and Calgary; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills; Ability to document, communicate, foster teamwork and collaboration to deliver results.
