Fugro Norway AS office in Oslo has an opening for a position as Geologist / Senior GeologistThe geologist independently interprets and assimilates geophysical, geotechnical, and well data; writes technical reports; ensures the quality of project work and makes project presentations to clients. A high degree of initiative and attention to detail are essential, along strong communication skills. This role requires a person who is flexible, and used to comply with deadlines. The successful candidate will be working in our Oslo office. Key Duties and Responsibilities:Works independently to validate, interpret, and integrate various geophysical, geologic, geotechnical, and well data to form a comprehensive assessment of marine site conditions for example with regard to drilling hazards, rig emplacement conditions and routing of pipelines and cables.Writes and prepares all aspects of technical reports; makes technical presentations and interacts with clients, contractors and in house departments on technical issues.Works closely with charting and GIS specialists to facilitate presentation-quality charts.Controls the quality of project work performed by other geologists (data quality, interpretation results and reports).Contributes to project management and supervision.Complies with QMS and HSE requirements. Qualifications:MSc within marine or quaternary geology,geoscience or geophysics.The ideal background would include a mixture of marine geophysics, geomechanics,engineering geology, and GIS applications.Knowledge of the regional geology of the Norwegian Continental Shelf is a requirement.Profound experience with interpretation of marine-acquired survey data, including side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler and seismic data (2D and 3D), is necessary.Proficient user of MS Office Suite and IHS Kingdom Suite; a high skill level on ArcGIS and SonarWiz is an advantageExcellent writing skills in English, including the proven ability to write detailed technical papers and reports, are essential. Excellent oral communication skills in English and good skills in Norwegian are required.At least 3 years’ experience in marine site investigations.
