Reporting to Marquis Fund I Limited Partnership’s General Partner, Marquis Securities and the board of directors, the Firms head Geologist will be accountable for following and reporting on the M&A; as well as the drilling and completion operations of Marquis Fund I Limited Partners portfolio. The potential acquisitions include assets in the Duvernay, Montney & Cardium plays. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the planning, execution and integration of field and office-based geological acquisition analysis, including exploration and development programs, project proposals, budget planning and tracking, procurement of geological services, data collection, data interpretation and reporting. Which will be complimented by our in-house analysts.This position is based in the Vancouver Head Office.ResponsibilitiesMonitoring the acquisition of geological data by joint venture companies and constructing,updating and evaluating geological models in support of reservoircharacterization and reservoir simulation studiesReporting to management on the status of ongoing geological studies and critical geological operations through technical presentations and briefings as required on a daily or regularbasisCoordinating with CNPC affiliates to progress studies and share data and models as requiredSupervising Wellsite operations and specific contracts to perform well operation work forall drilling activities and development well programsTaking a key role in the preparation of Geological Well Prognosis, end of welldocumentation, analysis and reporting to Internal/external partiesAttending daily drilling meetings and serving as a key Interface between wellsite anddevelopment geoscience teamAssisting with definition of Scope of Work and evaluation of geoscience related drillingtenders and contracts (wireline, mud logging, coring, core analysis,petrophysics, etc.)The experience to analyze model, well top, geological & operationaluncertainties and risksPlanning delineation well drilling programs including procurement and budgeting ofgeological services.Execution of delineation programs including data collection, data quality control, dataorganization, interpretation and reporting of resultsConducting detailed sedimentological characterization of reservoirs using core loggingtechniques.Performing stratigraphic correlation and subsurface mapping of the assetsPerforming basic petrophysical interpretations of the reservoirConducting geomodelling of reservoirsCalculations of in-place resource estimates and applying uncertainty analysisInteracting with various geological consulting and service companiesCommunicating closely with other disciplines including geophysicists, drilling engineers andreservoir engineersCorresponding with the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER)Planning, developing and writing technical documents including commercial applicationsand amendmentsMentoring junior geologists.QualificationsBSc. & MSc. Geology , preferably with a thesis in Reservoir CharacterizationPhD would be a high value assetAPEGA accreditation an assetExperience in the Western Canadian Sedimentary BasinGood command of clastic sedimentological description and interpretationAdvanced stratigraphic correlation and subsurface mapping skillsExperience with both Conventional & Unconventional projectsProficiency with Petrel, Techlog and GeoScout softwareGood understanding of geomodelling and geostatisticsExcellent planning and execution skillsCapacity to analyze and recommend potential acquisitions independently and efficientlyStrong interpersonal skills, ability to work well with diverse personalities and work forceAbility to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groupsStrong written and oral communication skillsAble to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictableactivities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environmentAbility to work within tight deadlines and practice efficient prioritization of work to achieve themStrong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailJob Type: Full-timeSalary: $100,000.00 to $120,000.00 /yearEducation:Master's (Required)
