LOCATION: Calgary, Alberta (CA-AB) JOB NUMBER: 20683   Job Description:          Reporting to the manager, regional mine geology, you will be accountable for geological data collection and interpretation for our operating and non-operating mining assets.  Having a background in oil sands mine geology, the individual will support the Senior Geologists to advance geohazard identification and 3D mine modeling. Key Accountabilities: Support annual exploration drilling programs for Fort Hills and Millennium mines Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) of analytical laboratory data and geophysics Assist senior geologists in providing regular updates of geohazard assessments and 3D mine models for use in production planning Geological support for mine dewatering and depressurization Provide geological output and support for mine planning and mine operations initiatives Required Qualifications: Experience and Education: 1-3 years geological working experience in oil sands sedimentary deposits Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Geosciences (eligible for professional status with APEGA) Skills and knowledge: Well versed in siliciclastic sedimentology and stratigraphy Basic knowledge of wireline well log analysis Exposure to geological modeling packages such as MineScape, Petrel Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite GIS background would be considered an asset Working Conditions: Occasional travel to Fort McMurray is required Why Suncor Go ahead.
