Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a full-time, entry-level Geologist to join the Geoscience team in our Redmond, WA office. Our team of 19 geologists and geophysicists support infrastructure and land development projects, geohazard identification and mapping and geophysical investigations in Puget Sound and throughout North America. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated education or field experience in geomorphology, geohazards, and Puget Sound geology. The selected candidate must be comfortable with the use of technology in the practice of geology and be comfortable working in project teams to support geologic and geotechnical investigation programs throughout the Pacific Northwest, US, and Canada. The selected candidate may have the opportunity to work in project locations throughout North America and should be interested in occasional travel for field assignments.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Perform geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards
Perform subsurface field geologic exploration tasks including drilling and test pit explorations
Interpretation of subsurface conditions and preparation of exploration records
Install monitoring wells for groundwater sampling and water level readings
Install and collect data from slope monitoring instrumentation
Perform data compilation and report writing and other related duties to support project teams
Office work will include GIS data analysis and management, geologic research and project proposal writing
The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
Must possess a minimum of MS in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Geological Engineering
Prior geology work experience not required but preferred
Demonstrate competence in understanding geomorphology and surface processes
Demonstrated experience and proficiency using GIS to identify geologic hazards using remote sensing data (Lidar and aerial imagery)
Candidates must be willing to work in the field conducting physically rigorous field geologic data collection in a variety of terrain and weather conditions
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
