Interprets and evaluates subsurface geologic data (logs, petrophysical and biostratigraphic data, well/seismic ties) to construct integrated maps, cross sections, and other geologic displays defining subsurface structure, reservoir geometries, net sand and net pay, hydrocarbon pore volume and other essential economically significant parameters consistent with established company mapping standards.Incorporates seismic interpretation with the geologic data to produce a fully integrated subsurface evaluation.Obtains, manipulates, and interprets computer databases and mapping software.Generates several high quality exploratory opportunities each year which are included in the company’s drilling program.Uses generated geologic interpretation to document exploration prospects and is able to quantify the geologic risks and range of potential volumetric size for those prospects.Mentors geology, geophysics, and engineering staff in field of expertise to elevate overall staff and company performance.Perform basic petrophysical evaluation to define reservoir properties – porosity, water saturation, etc.Ability to characterize risk of the various petroleum system elements.Ability to provide fundamental data to the drilling department in the form of a geoprognosis for a proposed well including lithology, pore pressure, potential geohazards, etc.Supervises and performs on-site open hole well-site geologic evaluations.Coordinates open-hole evaluation tools and service company vendors.Assesses the potential and geologic risks of external generated proposal for the company.Presents geologic work to obtain external capital resources.Supervises and directs the work of other departmental staff to accomplish the objectives of the department and company.Adheres to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.Supports company vision and mission.Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Ten (10) years minimum experience in geological oil and gas exploration, and a proven ability to identify prospective areas with fully integrated set of information to present to peers and management for approval to drill.High-level proficiency with onsite open hole evaluation and problem solving.Working knowledge and some practical experience of the role and job responsibilities of Reservoir and Operations Engineers, Landmen, and other company professionals in order to accomplish team goals.Ability to integrate and synthesize geologic interpretations to generate economically justified investment exploration opportunities for the company.Ability to accurately solve problems.Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner.Project management, administrative, and organizational skills.Proficiency in the use and application of the following software: Required: PETRA or other Geologic database and mapping software.Preferred: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).Project management, administrative, and organizational skills.
Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in geology.
Preferred: Master’s Degree from an accredited university or college with a degree in geology.
