Callon Petroleum is looking for a geologist to be a contributing member of an asset team consisting of reservoir engineers, completion engineers and geophysicists, with the goal of effectively and economically developing the company’s existing and potential horizontal assets. Qualified candidates will be current on all applicable technologies, including computer-based geological applications, and will be able to handle a high volume of data. Candidate must be self-motivated and possess ability to work in a team environment with drilling, land, and engineering personnel to take prospects from concept through completion.

Responsibilities:
7+ years experience, including some in US onshore basins, Permian Basin experience is strongly preferred.

Interpret and evaluate subsurface geologic data to construct integrated maps, cross sections, and other geologic displays defining subsurface structure & reservoir geometries. Develop detailed field level mapping, for reservoir and landing correlations using a multi-disciplinary team approach in addition to regional, multi-county stratigraphic framework and subsurface correlations
Utilize geoscience workstation software for mapping structure, reservoir properties and facies and producing well log correlations, cross-sections and well-seismic calibration. These interpretations will incorporate completion and production data. Experience with Geographix preferred.
Collect and integrate data including; log, seismic, rock property, well performance and land data to build an understanding of basin history, resource assessment and develop play analysis
Work within teams to generate development plans for multiple unconventional resource opportunities.
Communicate and interact daily with geophysicists, reservoir, completion, and drilling engineers providing interpreted well logs, cross-sections, and subsurface maps.
Plan and monitor horizontal wells with a working knowledge of geosteering techniques.
Coordinate and supervise on-site open-hole well-site geologic evaluations. Including open-hole well logging, coring, mud logging.
Conduct studies to identify and quantify trends in performance. Feed information back to influence drilling, completions and manage well flowback and longer term flow strategy.

Requirements:

Degree: Bachelors required, Masters preferred
Major Discipline: Geology
Years of Experience Required: Minimum 7 years of industry experience; unconventional experience is preferred
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary team to achieve project related goals.
Intellectual curiosity and passion for results.
High attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure.
Software Proficiency: GeoGraphix, IHS/DrillingInfo, Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Software Familiarity: Kingdom SMT, Spotfire
