Position Summary:
Responsible for collecting and investigating geological, geophysical and drilling data necessary to generate oil and gas prospects and reserve generation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):Provide efficient, accurate and detailed records of the geology and oil and gas shows to generate prospects.Generate subsurface maps and cross-sections.Use subsurface maps, logs and cross section in coordination with seismic data to generate drillable prospects.Maintain knowledge of internal corporate activity, competitor activity and historical information for assigned geographic region.Analyze and interpret geological and geophysical information from sources such as survey data, well logs, bore holes, outcrop and aerial photos.Update and organize geologic and seismic data to evaluate future prospects.Oversee contractors and coordinate geo-technical work during well drilling.Perform other geoscience/department tasks as assigned by Vice President.Communicate with partners regarding various projects.Review and assess third party prospects and exploration programs.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):Participate in safety training as required.Maintain necessary regulatory filings with the Corporation Commission working with the Legal department.Participate and manage budgeting programs for assigned projects.Periodically attend relevant courses and industry conferences to enhance professional development.
Job Qualifications (refers to job, not incumbent):
Education: Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Geophysics.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Geology or Geophysics.

Experience: Minimum: 2-3 years of experience as a geologist in the oil and gas industry.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: L.P.G. and/or C.P.G. Employee must have valid driver’s license if driving a company vehicle or their own vehicle for work purposes.

Other:Possess proven experience as hydrocarbon finder with the ability to integrate subsurface, production and geophysical data into cohesive plan and prospect development.Ability to develop geologic and structural models in conjunction with geophysical interpretation.Highly developed interpersonal communication skills to effectively work in a team atmosphere.Able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and other external contacts.Strong attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communications skills.Able to effectively manage time and prioritize projects in order to meet established deadlines.Demonstrate basic computer knowledge through effective use of a personal computer including Microsoft Office applications.Able to learn company specific applications.Strong critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems taking into consideration the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.Good working knowledge and experience in conventional, unconventional shale and/or coal bed methane reservoirs.Strong experience with horizontal well planning, geologic operations supervision, geo-steering and data integration.Ability to accommodate occasional travel including overnight stays.
