Lake Superior Consulting, LLC, a Shawcor Company, headquartered in Duluth, MN, is a team consisting of Engineers, Technicians and Support Specialists committed to providing a premier level of service to our customers in the pipeline industry. We provide many services to the pipeline industry, including but not limited to: Engineering Design and Project Management, Integrity Management, Welding Inspection, Coating Inspection, Survey, Quality Control, Inline Inspection, and Cathodic Protection.

We are currently growing at a fast pace and as part of that growth, we are seeking to fill a Geologist position at our office in Duluth, MN. The Geologist/Environmental position is focused on supporting project engineers with the investigation, clarification and interpretation of geological data.
Supports projects requiring Geologic/Environmental interpretation through informational research and field study
Assists in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to evaluate
Prepares written documents (field notes and forms, portions of reports, bid documents, health & safety plans, etc.) in a clear and concise manner with moderate editing required
Prepares technical reports and presentations that explain their research and findings
Performs other office or field studies and duties that may be assigned by more senior level professional staff or the Office Manager
Assists in compiling the scope of work for both routine and more complex lab or field investigations to measure and sample physical and non-physical properties of soil from a geotechnical, geological, or environmental standpoint
Develops unique solutions for clients, leveraging LSC’s industry experience and knowledge of emerging trend
Assists in mentoring junior employees
Participates in industry conferences, trade shows, and other business development activities upon request
Continually expands knowledge of oil and gas pipeline industry through project work, self-study, and approved formal training
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth/Environmental Sciences
Potential of 60% field time/travel required
2+ years related work experience desired
Skilled in MS Office and Google Earth
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Oil & gas pipeline experience a plus
Ability to travel
