What you can expect from MRL

To support our continued growth in Oil & Gas, we are seeking an experienced Geologist to join our Energy team based in Applecross.

Reporting to our Exploration Manager, your primary responsibility for providing prospect and play based evaluation to all Perth Basin oil and gas permits.

The Geologist participates in the generation, interpretation and evaluation of subsurface data across the basin and contributes to the ultimate resource assessment of identified plays and assists portfolio additions. As new data becomes available the Geologist works with all staff to ensure the appropriate information and models are provided in a timely manner. A key accountability is the follow-up of the progress and data from wells being drilled from daily geological and drilling reports received from the field and contractors.

What we expect from YOU

Verification and quality control of geological and well data
Interpret and calibrate geological and well data, including stratigraphic correlations
Undertake post drill evaluations
Conduct reservoir characterisation from drilling and logging information
Assist in the generation of regional play maps and cross-sections
Identify key geological issues involved in concepts, leads and prospects
Where necessary assist in the load of well, seismic and other data to update and maintain the Exploration database
Assist with well proposal documentation and well completion reports
Provide operations geology support, with key input to well management plans, basis of well design and drilling programmes
What YOU will bring

Geology or related geological tertiary qualifications
5-10 years’ experience working in the Oil & Gas industry
Experience in both Prospect and Play Based exploration evaluations
Kingdom user (or equivalent) and basic seismic interpretation skills including
Demonstrated data management skills
Analytical, evaluation and reporting skills
Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload effectively
Knowledge of Perth Basin geology is an advantage
Working knowledge of oil and gas, drilling operations
