Job Summary
This position works in a multi-discipline asset team and reports to the Geoscience Lead, who in turn is a direct report to the Asset Manager. The asset team is charged with core area value creation through aggressive primary development of identified resources. Additionally, the asset team is responsible for evaluating and expanding or divesting acreage holding in the core area. The position is supported by a highly qualified group of geoscience professionals including: geoscience technicians, geophysicists, petrophysicists, and GeoGraphix database analysts. As part of this role, Geologist I will be expected to perform the following tasks:
Generate and/or update maps in assigned area of responsibility using all appropriate data & technologies (including but not limited to: production, petrophysics, 2D/3D seismic, geochemical and core data) to grow, high-grade and prioritize drilling location inventory
Coordinating/collaborating with the drilling department on the drilling of development and exploration wells, supporting same with geological prognoses and logging program recommendations and oversight
Monitoring industry activity in assigned area of responsibility utilizing public data and industry networks
Work with Asset Team members to develop capital budget plans and to track implementation of same

Education/Experience Required
Must possess a master’s degree in Geology or Geophysics
Prior work experience with unconventional/resource plays
Must be able to work in the United States indefinitely

Education/Experience Preferred
Prior work experience in the Permian Basin
Minimum of 1 year experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
Demonstrated experience in GeoGraphix or other integrated geoscience software package
