In this assignment the Operations Geologist will work closely with geologists, drilling engineers, and Company man, providing them with accurate geosteering models for horizontal wells with the goal of keeping the wellbore within a defined target window. Job Duties: Provide geosteering models for actively drilling horizontal wells with the goal of keeping the wellbore within a defined target window by delivering real-time integration of LWD gamma ray log, seismic, and mudlogging data to provide timely directional guidance (i.e., changes in the wellbores future trajectory) to the rigsite personnel to keep the well bore in both the target window and the fastest drilling rock. Make geologic well log correlations, and manipulate seismic data to determine the stratigraphic position of the wellbore. Work a two weeks on and one week off rotational schedule, and be the primary point of contact for Planning Geologist and the Planning and Execution Drilling Engineer, in addition to the rigsite personnel. Develop a basic knowledge of geologic and geophysical processes as they relate to oil & gas development. Job responsibilities will require the use of various software packages (SMT, SES, Excel, etc.). Performs other/additional duties as assigned by Supervisor. Qualifications: MS in either Geology or Geophysics Must demonstrate problem-solving skills and the ability to work as a team member. Must have good verbal and written communication skills, be well organized, have good people skills, and demonstrate good computer skills. Solid interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Salary competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
