Joining Sinopec Canada as a Geologist means becoming an important part of our team dedicated to making successful contributions to a sustainable future.Primary Purpose of PositionReporting to the Supervisor, Geoscience, this New Graduate Geologist will work within a multidisciplinary team to optimally develop and grow Sinopec Canada’s assets.Roles and ResponsibilitiesConduct basic petroleum geology tasks such as:Describing coreAnalyzing well logs'Building cross-sectionsMappingEvaluate geological data to determine:Reservoir characteristics (egs. porosity and permeability)Hydrocarbon potentialDrilling opportunitiesPosition Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceExcellent entry-level knowledge of geology egs. sedimentology, lithology, and depositional environmentsStrong organizational skills with the ability to work in a multi-discipline teamGood communication skills (eg. delivering clear and effective presentations)Strong computer skills (egs. geology software, Microsoft Office Suite)High level of integrity in all actions, complying with and promoting the company’s core values, a respectful work environment, and aligning with the code of business conduct.Demonstrated ability to understand and work well in a diverse and multi-cultural environmentQualificationsB Sc. Geology degreeMust be a 2017 or 2018 Graduate, with up to two years of work experience (egs. summer student or Co-op student), and available to start in January 2019Work experience or research experience in some of Sinopec’s asset areas is considered an asset (egs. Belly River, Cardium, Mannville Group, and Nisku formations)Must be legally qualified to work in Canada and be willing to apply for APEGA G.I.T. CertificationAttractive Features About the RoleYou will be working on a broad spectrum of geology projects including both clastics and carbonates, the Montney unconventional play in BC, a broad number of conventional plays across Alberta and BC, the oil sands, and both exploration and development.
