Position Summary
This position is a technically based, personal contribution role designed to advance key Company initiatives and technical evaluations. The Geologist will be responsible for basin wide and field specific geologic evaluations in the Permian and Williston Basins, as well as other possible basins. The primary focus of this role will be to generate, evaluate, plan, and make recommendations for corporate opportunities and acquisitions utilizing geological maps, cross-sections, core and well log analysis, petrophysical, geomechanical, and geophysical evaluations, and possibly the inclusion of 3rd party interpretations or data flows. The candidate will be expected to exhibit strong presentation, teamwork, and team leadership skills to produce enterprise based geological interpretations, assess resource potential and development plans while collaborating with other Business Development staff. The individual will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating competitor activity with a focus to gain a better understanding of primary and alternate reservoir horizons being explored or exploited, new strategies, and innovative concepts and technologies that are being utilized within the basin. Finally, the successful candidate will have a track record of significant economic and technical contributions, be able to develop a differential view leading to new opportunities for the Company, with the expectation that the individual will be self-motivated to positively impact the company’s future. This position will report to the Business Development Geoscience Manager, and is located in downtown Houston, TX. Level and salary commensurate with background and experience.
Essential Job Functions
Apply and advance existing and emerging subsurface technologies for identifying and evaluating unconventional and conventional reservoirs
Work closely with engineering and land to accurately assess primary and upside inventory on all evaluations
Champion development of foundational technical expertise leading to top tier geological interpretations, petrophysical analysis, and incorporation of emerging technologies
Monitor/evaluate competitor activity. Identify and evaluate new developments.
Calibrate core data to all available wireline log data
Analyze and interpret core and well log data
Tie all subsurface data to well performance trends
Perform basin level assessments of “legacy” plays toward possible entry
Technical contribution on special projects and new venture opportunities
Maintain a strong collaborative relationship with Business Development Team members and geologists throughout the organization, including mentoring of more junior geology personnel.
Interaction with Asset team to help develop acquisition and extension opportunities providing company growth
Additional duties as needed by Management and Company operations

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Geology
Permian Basin experience
10 years of material experience in unconventional and conventional basins
Proficient use of geological workstations (PETRA, GeoGraphix, Kingdom) or equivalent, and Microsoft Office software (excel/powerpoint/word/outlook)
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Self-motivated individual with strong analytical and decision-making skills
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and communicate in a multi-disciplinary team environment, with consultants, and with vendors/ technical service providers
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
