The Delaware asset is looking for a geologist with a background in working development programs, supporting ongoing drilling operations and characterization of new-entry areas.
The Delaware Basin, divided by the TX-NM state line in the western half of the Permian Basin, is a premier oil play with roughly 6.4 million acres garnering over 25% of the total drilling activity in the Lower 48 and boasting some of the lowest unconventional breakeven costs. ConocoPhillips holds roughly 88,000 net acres within the Delaware including nearly 45,000 core net acres in the most prolific region of the basin by EUR. Development is currently focused in the China Draw and Zia Hills operating areas and ConocoPhillips is actively coring up a third operating area in Sand Dunes. The immediate areas of interest around ConocoPhillips’ position account for over 40% of total Delaware drilling activity. Over 3,000 horizontal wells have been drilled within these regions with over 50% targeting ConocoPhillips’ primary targets: Wolfcamp A, Wolfcamp C and Bone Springs 2nd Sands. Steadily increasing activity and improving well productivity have driven Delaware oil production over 1.25 MMBOPD. ConocoPhillips expects to grow rig count in Delaware beyond 2019 with significant production growth over time.
