The position of Geologist – Basin Analyst forms a part of the Resources division, Earth Resources Policy & Programs branch within the Employment, Investment and Trade group.
The primary role of the Geologist – Basin Analyst is to provide expertise on the geological factors that comprise energy resource systems. The position will deliver high level authoritative geoscientific products and advice to inform government and external stakeholders, as part of the Victorian Gas Program.
The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the Earth Resources Policy and Programs Branch.
Experience in specialist basin analysis fields/techniques such as sedimentology and depositional environments, biostratigraphy, petroleum systems analyses, sequence stratigraphy, petroleum geochemistry, geomechanics, log analysis, or seismic interpretation, as they relate to energy resource exploration, would be well regarded.
